China through Robert Scoble’s eyes

关于最近微软在MSN Spaces 中国版上禁止使用“自由”、“民主”等词作为标题一事，微软的员工 Robert Scoble（不知道其具体头衔，据称是technical evangelist）在自己blog上说，他遇到的中国教授/学生都持anti-free-speech stance 。
此公当真一语惊人。当然，不排除他遇到的人有说反对美国式民主的。但一言以蔽之，把他遇到的人乃至全中国人都看成anti-free-speech ，实在让我惊讶。Just like Robert Scoble said,”I’m not Chinese. I’m American. ” While,I’m not American, I am Chinese. but 中国人也是人啊，难道就不喜欢自由民主？自由民主这几个词可是白纸黑字写在《中华人民共和国宪法》里的啊。每次党的会议都说要建立富强民主的现代化社会，发展社会主义民主政治，要保证人民言论自由，这一下咋整成我们都anti-free-speech 了呢？
我一贯对国外blogger不关注，因此曾到我blog留言的Rebecca Mackinnon女士，我都居然不知道她是赫赫有名的blogger，真是有眼不识泰山。
她在自己blog中说的好：
In my experience, most Chinese, like all other human beings I’ve ever met, would very much like to have freedom of speech. This goes for students, professors, workers, farmers, retirees, religious practitioners, and even many government officials. Many said so to me in on-the-record interviews.
翻译为中文如下：根据我的经验，大多数中国人，就像我遇到的其他人，也希望有言论自由。这适用于学生、教授、工人、农民、退休人员、宗教人士，甚至许多政府官员。许多人在同意录音/记录/报道的采访中对我这么说。
毫无疑问，中国人也是人，对民主自由等人类共同的财产有着天生的向往。要不然，我们的革命先辈、包括各朝代农民起义，抛头颅洒热血是为了什么？Robert Scoble 的话，要么是出于压力，要么是他在说胡话。不过，Robert Scoble 在美国，似乎没有言论上的顾虑，因此Robert Scoble told a lie!
有些人，这里不是说Robert Scoble ，指的是中国的某些人，总喜欢拿国人素质低，贫困人口多，来证明中国不适合民主。远的如慈禧太后（Empress Dowager ），近的嘛，咱就不说了。

刚上网时的一些糗事

2000年4月，我第一次亲自用电脑，以前都是远远看别人用。第一次用电脑后，就开始上网了。初上网时，真是笑话迭出。
1：不会最大化窗口，不会关窗口。刚开始上sohu看新闻，点击以后弹出的窗口很小，和以前的不一样。我想，就这么小的窗口，多不方便。但也没办法，只好用鼠标拖着看，碰见图片还得左右拉着才能看个大概。不一会电脑慢的一塌糊涂，于是我找老板，一个阿姨。我说，你们这电脑怎么回事啊？阿姨一看，哟，你怎么打开这么多窗口啊。于是她一个一个给我关了。当时我那个糗啊。
2，不会开机。起初在机房和网吧，电脑都是开好的。有一天，我到校内另外一家网吧上网，9块钱一小时（黑啊）。我随便找了台机器坐下，发现电脑没开。找了半天，不知道怎么开。又不好意思找网管，怕丢脸^_^。于是装作有事的样子，悻悻而走。又某次，在机房，当时知道按电源开关了。但电脑上还是飘啊飘着迷宫，不出现windows98，后来知道那是屏保。问旁边俩女生，她们也不知道怎么办。嘿嘿。
3，不会听音乐，以为把耳机插到CD-ROM前的插口就可以了。当时我还纳闷，这电脑是不是坏了啊，怎么听不到声音，呵呵。后来，才知道前面那是听CD的。
4，不会用QQ。当时，QQ还叫OICQ。qq有个特性，就是靠边隐藏。但当时我不知道啊，心想这OICQ怎么不见了呢。于是又登陆，出现“热键冲突”的提示。又奇怪，这什么叫“热键”啊？
5，不会接收QQ消息。某次，我在OICQ聊天室随便加了一个人，然后他说建个新聊天室，发消息告诉我名字。但是我等了半天也没收到消息，于是跑回原来的聊天室找他。他还责备我为什么不回消息，我说没收到啊。于是，我找到OICQ的聊天记录，才找到他说的话。汗一个。
后来知道怎么收QQ消息了，就是打开QQ界面，看谁的头像跳就点谁。后来，在网吧看一位女生点系统托盘的QQ图标也能出来消息，觉得很新奇。后来，才知道按Ctrl+Alt+Z也能出来消息，再后来知道热键还可以自定义。。。。
6，似乎是QQ2000推出的隐身功能。我以为隐身就是谁都看不到，就算发消息对方也看不到。于是某次，装女生逗一宿舍哥们，没想到刚说两句就被丫揪了出来。 我还直纳闷，我不是隐身嘛，他怎么看到我？
